HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team welcomed back seven of its alumnae for the annual alumnae match on Sunday afternoon inside the Gooding '84 Arena. The match, the final competitive tune-up for the regular season, was followed by a postgame reception in the Gardner Intergrated Athletic Center.
The current squad outlasted the alumnae in a competitive five-set battle, with the current squad taking the first two stanzas before holding on for victory in the fifth and final set. The match was an opportunity for Haverford to host competive volleyball in its home arena for the first time in 2018, and provided Head Coach Drew Hargrave with a long look at a young squad.
The alumnae team consisted of Sarah Brody '15, Valentine Courouble '17, Madison Fuelling '15, Jeanna Kenney '16, Emily Mills '12, Sarah Renert '16, and Zoe Wong '18.
The Fords will be back in action on Saturday, kicking off the regular season at the annual Haverford Invitational, hosting Farmingdale State (1:00 p.m.) and Hunter (5:00 p.m.) on Saturday, September 1 before returning on Sunday, September 2 for matchups with Wheaton (Mass.) (12:00 p.m.) and Arcadia (4:00 p.m.).
