HAVERFORD, Pa. – Hannah Friedrich has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by conference officials. Friedrich earned the first weekly accolade of her young career after making four saves during Haverford's 4-0 shutout victory against Lebanon Valley over the weekend.
Friedrich anchored a Haverford defense which allowed just nine shots in total during the course of that match. Three of Friedrich's saves came in the first half while the Fords were up just 1-0 after 45 minutes of play. Haverford broke the match open in the second half with three goals over the span of just 8:13 of playing time during the eventual 4-0 victory.
Taking over as the full-time starter this season, Friedrich already has been the goalie of record during six of Haverford's wins since stepping on campus despite starting just five of those matches. She has two solo shutouts to her credit and holds a 6-2-1 overall record. Haverford's sophomore has stopped 71.4% of the shots on goal she has faced so far this fall.
Women's soccer will have two more non-conference matchups this week as the Fords travel to Eastern on Tuesday afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. match. The Fords return home on Saturday for a 12 p.m. noon start against Widener on Walton Field.
