HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team continues to sit just outside of the top 25 nationally in both polls. The Fords received 47 voting points in the D3Soccer.com national poll and are also listed among teams receiving votes by the United Soccer Coaches Association. Both of these polls represent their respective association's first ranking of the regular season.
Haverford is off to a 2-1 start this season with shutout victories against Cabrini (w, 4-0) and Hampden-Sydney (w, 3-0). The Fords' lone defeat came to a Centre squad which is now ranked No. 15 in the D3Soccer.com poll and is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Association poll.
The Fords will have two more home matches against Wilkes and Rowan before Centennial Conference play opens. Haverford will enter the CC slate having won three of the last four conference titles, including the 2018 championship. The Fords' first two conference games are against the only other Centennial Conference teams ranked in the national polls. Johns Hopkins (3-1) is ranked No. 5 by the USC and No. 8 by D3Soccer.com. Franklin & Marshall (2-1) is No. 12 in the USC poll and No. 18 in the D3Soccer.com rankings.
With just one match this week, the Fords return to action on Saturday against Wilkes with a 2:30 p.m. start. Haverford closes its five-game home stand to start the season next Wednesday as it battles Rowan on Walton Field in the final tune-up before conference play gets started.
