Women's cross country merits all-academic status

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Haverford College's women's cross country team has merited  2012 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status.

Earning the national team academic honor for the sixth straight year, the Fords were one of 10 Centennial Conference teams and 197 D-III teams overall to receive the honor.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 through the 2012 fall semester. Haverford tallied a cumulative 3.548 GPA.

It was an impressive season all around for the Fords as the young squad claimed an automatic ticket to the national meet courtesy of a second-place finish at the highly competitive Mideast Regional. Haverford made the most of the opportunity as it finished 13th at the NCAA Division III championship held in Terre Haute, Ind. Twenty eight out of the 32 teams that competed on the national stage earned all-academic accolades.
