Fran Rizzo, who begins his 22nd year as Haverford College's women's cross country and track & field coach in 2011-12, has guided the Fords to 14 Centennial Conference titles in cross country and track & field. Haverford has won three conference cross country championships (1993, 1995, 1996) and six in indoor track & field (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and five in outdoor (1995, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009).

In 2011, Rizzo's squad ran to second at the conference championships.  He had four women named to the all-conference list, as well as 11 receiving all-academic accolades.

Rizzo was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 for cross country and indoor track & field and NCAA Division III Mid-East Coach of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track & field in 2004.

Under Rizzo's direction, Kristen Wilson '03 was named Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2000 and Centennial Conference Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2001, and 11 Rizzo runners - Tamara Lave '90, Jen Maranzano '94, Danielle Wolfrom '94, Emily Dorean '97, Meredith Unger '97, Rachel Mosher '99, Kate Westfall '99, Jane Steinemann '04, Aislinn Sowash '07, Annick Lamar '08 and Jessie Belden '09 - have earned Division III All-America status. Unger and Mosher were five-time cross country and track national honorees, while Maranzano accomplished the same feat four times. More recently, Belden earned Centennial Conference Most Outstanding Field Performer honors for both indoor and outdoor in 2009.

The holder of a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from West Chester University, Rizzo has extensive teaching and coaching experience in the Philadelphia area. He guided the cross country and track teams at Devon Preparatory School to several league championships in the seven years he spent there prior to his arrival at Haverford. He has also coached at the Main Line Day School and in the Philadelphia Recreation Department.

Rizzo will be assisted again this year by Doug Mason '81 and former Westtown School head coach Rob Upton, who specializes in strength training and throwing events.

A 1981 graduate of Haverford College, Doug Mason began coaching as his alma mater in 1989 as an assistant for the men's track & field team. In 1995 Mason became the assistant coach for the Fords' women's track & field squad. 

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association indoor track & field mideast region assistant coach of the year in 2009 and 2010, Mason has helped the Fords win six Centennial Conference indoor track & field championships, including five straight from 2006 to 2010.
