Haverford duo merits all-conference track & field recognition

LANCASTER, Pa. - Haverford College's Brittany Steele and Nora Weathers earned spots on the 2014 All-Centennial Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Team as released by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Capping off a sensational indoor season, Steele registered gold medal performances in the 60-meter dash and the 200 while also garnering first-team all conference honors in both events.

Steele's standout day made an impression on the Centennial coaches as the freshman was named the women's outstanding rookie performer of the meet.

Making her first conference championships even more memorable, Steele established a new program record of 7.91 seconds (pictured) in the 60 on the way to winning the race by one hundredths of a second. Steele came close to claiming another record in the 200 as her winning time of 26.51 ranks second in program history.

Meriting honorable mention all-conference recognition, Weathers finished third in the mile with a career-best time of 5 minutes, 8.89 seconds.

Dickinson College's Sara Patterson and Johns Hopkins University's Emily Swenson were recognized as the top overall performers on the track and in the field events, respectively. Pete Carroll of Swarthmore College was named the coach of the year.
