Balmer qualifies for NCAA indoor track championship
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Haverford College sophomore Katie Balmer earned a spot at the NCAA 2013 III indoor track & field championship hosted by North Central University on Friday and Saturday.
Balmer enters the 15-person field for the mile with the 10th seed (4 minutes, 59.76 seconds). The sophomore established a new program indoor mark in the mile last Saturday with a time of 4:56.82 at the Columbia University Final Qualifer Meet.
The mile's preliminary heat is scheduled for Friday at 3:45 p.m. CST with the top 10 advancing to Saturday's final at 1:40 p.m. Balmer is one of four runners from the Centennial Conference competing in the mile.
The two-day meet is will take place at the Al B. Carius Track–Residence Hall/Recreation Center.
