HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team has released its 2013 schedule and the Fords will be tested often, and early, as nine teams on this year's slate garnered double figures in wins last season.
The defending Centennial Conference champion Fords open the 2013 campaign on Aug. 31 as they host Arcadia University on the first day of the Kickoff Classic at Walton Field. Stevenson University will be Haverford's opponent on Sept. 1 as part of the two-day round-robin tournament. The Mustangs posted a 15-5-3 record last season and claimed the East Coast Athletic Conference 2012 Division III South Championship.
Haverford continues the non-conference slate the following weekend when it ventures to Hoboken, N.J., to participate in the Engineering Cup hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology. The Fords will take on New York University and Vassar College on Sept. 8 and 9, respectively.
The conference opener brings Dickinson College to Haverford on Sept. 14 before Haverford faces a tough stretch of three straight on the road including back-to-back non-conference tilts with a pair of 2012 Commonwealth Conference playoff participants -- Elizabethtown College (Sept. 21) and Lebanon Valley College (Sept .25). The Fords edged both the Blue Jays and Dutchmen by a goal in entertaining contests at Walton Field last season.
An Oct. 2 match-up with Moravian College completes the non-conference portion of the schedule before Centennial action heats up with important home dates against Muhlenberg College (Oct. 9) and Johns Hopkins University (Oct. 12).
Haverford, an NCAA participant for the second time in program history in 2012, was undefeated at home last season (9-0-1) and the Fords will look to maintain that same dominance at Walton Field as they close out the regular season with three consecutive home games against Washington College (Oct. 23), Swarthmore College (Oct. 26) and Ursinus College (Nov. 2).
