Challenging schedule awaits women's lacrosse

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A challenging schedule featuring four teams ranked in Lacrosse Magazine's D-III top-20 preseason rankings, awaits the Haverford College women's lacrosse team this spring.

The Fords kick off the season by welcoming local Main Line rival Cabrini College to Swan Field on Feb. 27. The Cavaliers fell to Centennial Conference champion Gettysburg College in the first round of the NCAA tournament last May. Haverford then heads to the University of Scranton do battle with the Landmark Conference semifinalist on March 2.

A trip to Los Angeles, Calif. highlights the spring break calendar as the Fords take on 20th-ranked Occidental College, and Whittier College on March 13 and March 15, respectively.

March concludes with the onset of the Centennial slate as the sixth-ranked Gettysburg Bullets travel to Haverford on March 23. The demanding conference schedule includes home match-ups in April with Muhlenberg College (April 3), Bryn Mawr College (April 13) and Franklin & Marshall (April 20). The F&M Diplomats, ranked No. 12 in the preseason rankings, captured the Centennial title in 2011.

Also of interest in April is the final non-conference contest of the season on April 11 against the York (Pa.) College Spartans. The Spartans, ranked 10th in the country to start 2013, fell in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2012.

The regular season concludes with consecutive road trips to Ursinus College on April 24 and to rival Swarthmore College on April 27.
