LANCASTER, Pa. - Haverford College pitcher Sara Tauriello has taken no time adjusting to softball at the collegiate level as the freshman was named the Centennial Conference pitcher of the week on Monday afternoon.
Earning conference honors for the second time this season, Tauriello went 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA to help the Fords out to an impressive 3-1 start in conference play.
Tauriello struck out six and held Washington College to four hits in an impressive five-inning relief stint. The left-hander's performance helped Haverford rally to beat the Shorewomen for the first time in four years.
Improving to 5-0 on the season, Tauriello capped the week by limiting Dickinson College to just two singles while striking out six in the opening game of a doubleheader sweep by the Fords.
Tauriello currently ranks sixth in the conference with 48 strikeouts overall.
Earlier in the season, Tauriello was named the conference's co-pitcher of the week in recognition of establishing a new program mark for strikeouts in a game with 15 against Brandeis University.
