LANCASTER, Pa. - Haverford College pitcher Sara Tauriello etched her name into the program record books on Sunday with a 15-strikeout performance. The Centennial Conference took notice and named Tauriello the conference co-pitcher of the week on Monday afternoon.
Making just her second collegiate start, Tauriello made a lasting impression on Brandeis University as she fanned 15 over seven innings of work. Tauriello, 2-0 on the year, struck out the side in the fourth, sixth and seventh frames to help the Fords to an 8-2 victory. The freshman left-hander's extraordinary performance established a new program mark for strikeouts in a game, surpassing the previous record of 10.
Tauriello shared the weekly honor with Melissa O'Connor of Swarthmore College.
