HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College will host an instructional softball clinic for children ages seven to 12 on Sunday, Jan. 27. Members of the Haverford team will instruct participants on the basic fundamentals of the game -- throwing, fielding, hitting, pitching, baserunning -- throughout the two-hour clinic.
The clinic, part of the softball team's community service project for the 2013 season, will take place in Alumni Field House from noon to 2 p.m. Parking is available in the south visitor's lot.
Participants should bring a glove, sneakers, bat and water bottle.
Cost for the clinic is $25 per participant and proceeds will support those living with cancer and their families as part of the StrikeOut Cancer initiative by the American Cancer Society. Checks should be made payable to "American Cancer Society" and sent along with the clinic registration form to Jen Ward, Head Softball Coach, Haverford College, 370 Lancaster Avenue, Haverford, PA 19041. Registration closes on Jan. 18.
