Win in mile at Armory propels Marquardt to Centennial honor

LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman Charlie Marquardt of the Haverford College men's indoor track & field team was named the Centennial Conference's track athlete of the week, as released by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Marquardt raced to the front of the pack in the mile at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games in New York City on Friday, Feb. 8, posting a heat-1 winning time of 4 minutes, 13.80 seconds which held up over the remaining two heats to give the freshman the event title.

His converted time, from The Armory's banked track to the NCAA's flat surface standard, of 4:17.05 rates Marquardt as the 21st-fastest indoor miler in Division III.
