Big defensive week for Hamill nets conference player of the week honor
LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford College's 10th-ranked men's lacrosse team posted a 2-0 record over the past week and the defense was a big part of that success. Defender Dillon Hamill helped spearhead the Fords' efforts and was rewarded with the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Hamill caused 15 turnovers and scooped up 11 ground balls over the pair of victories, an 11-10 win over Ursinus College and a 10-6 triumph over Swarthmore College. He forced eight miscues against Ursinus, including two in the final 96 seconds to preserve the one-goal victory.
The Fords (11-3, 6-2 CC) head into the weekend's conference tournament as the No. 3 seed. Top seed and host Dickinson College will square off against fourth-seed Ursinus College in a 1 p.m. semifinal Friday in Carlisle, Pa., with the Fords scheduled to play second-seed Gettysburg College in the second semifinal, approximately one hour after the conclusion of the opening contest.
The championship final is slated for a 1 p.m. start Sunday at Dickinson.
