HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's basketball team released its 2013-14 schedule on Monday afternoon and the Fords will once again face a challenging slate.
The first night of the Equinox Tournament, hosted by Swarthmore College, features a matchup against 2013 NCAA participant Ithaca College on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. The Bombers won 21 games last season on their way to participating in the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
Play shifts to Gooding Arena the next day for a 3 p.m. game against Oglethorpe University, a Southern Atlantic Association semifinalist last season.
After a non-conference home contest against Misercordia University on Nov. 21, Haverford will open the Centennial Conference season with a trip to defending champion Dickinson College on Saturday, Nov. 23, in the first of two straight on the road. The Red Devils advanced to the second round of the national tournament last March. A conference date with Muhlenberg College follows on Nov. 26.
The Fords close out the first semester with two home conference games as Washington College visits on Dec. 3 and Haverford entertains Franklin & Marshall College, last year's regular-season champion, on Dec. 7.
The new year brings a trip to Center Valley, Pa., as the Fords participate in a holiday tournament at DeSales University. Haverford will tip off against Medgar Evers University on Jan. 4 before taking on the host Bulldogs, a 22-game winner in 2012-13, the next afternoon.
January will see Centennial action heat up with seven conference contests including three consecutive home games in an eight-day span. Gettysburg College kicks off the home stretch on Jan. 14 followed by dates with Dickinson (Jan. 18) and rival Swarthmore (Jan. 22).
The beginning of February will provide the Fords with three more home games--Johns Hopkins University (Feb. 1), Muhlenberg (Feb. 5) and McDaniel College (Feb. 8).
Haverford's final non-conference contest occurs on Feb. 10 when the Fords travel to Moravian College. The Greyhounds went 10-3 at home last season.
