CHANDLER, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has announced its invitees to the NFHCA 2012 Division III Senior Game with Haverford College's Mary Hobbs and Bridget Gibbons among the 60 players named to the roster.
The Haverford duo, both named first-team All-Centennial Conference selections Monday afternoon, helped lead the No. 19 Fords to a 14-5 record which included an 8-2 mark within the league standings.
Haverford earned the No. 2 seed in the conference postseason tournament and advanced to the championship final with a semifinal win over Gettysburg College. Fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall College captured the league crown with a win over the Fords in the tournament's title game Sunday in Lancaster, Pa.
The program's leader in points (171), goals (65), game-winning goals (12) and assists (41), Hobbs (pictured, on left) also completes her career as one of the league's best offensive players. She ranks fourth all-time in points and goals on the Centennial's records list, is fifth in assists and tied for 11th in game-winners.
Gibbons (pictured, on right) posted single-season career highs this year with nine goals, seven assists and 25 points. For her career, the midfielder is sixth in the program with 18 assists, tied for seventh in points (68) and eighth in goals (25).
Hobbs and Gibbons were two of the 2012 all-conference squad's five unanimous first-team selections.
Joining the Haverford pair on the senior game roster also from the conference are Franklin & Marshall's Maura Hennigan and Stephanie McDonald, Johns Hopkins University's Maggie Phillips, Paige Messersmith of McDaniel College, Muhlenberg College's Kristen Dornenburg and Washington College's Kristen Wille.
The 2012 game will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 at William Smith (N.Y.) College.
