Conference preseason field hockey poll picks Fords to finish in top four

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team has been picked to finish fourth in the Centennial Conference in the 2010 preseason coaches' poll conducted by the league office and released Tuesday afternoon.

The Fords received 66 points in the voting (voters may not vote for their own team) finishing ahead of fifth-place Franklin & Marshall (63 points) and Muhlenberg (51). Defending champion Ursinus was a unanimous choice for the top-spot with 100 points from 10 first-place votes. Johns Hopkins (87) was second followed closely by the 83 points garnered by Gettysburg.

Haverford finished in fourth place in 2009 and qualified for its first Centennial tournament. The Fords then scratched out a 1-0 win over F&M in the opening round to reach the semifinals for the first time in program history.
