Baseball’s Carluccio and Henrick earn weekly conference honors
LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford College's Charlie Carluccio and Bryan Henrick have been selected as the Centennial Conference baseball co-player and pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 10.
Carluccio, a senior shortstop, recorded six hits in his 13 at-bats (.462 batting average) to help the Fords to a 3-0 week. Half of his hits went for extra bases (two doubles, one triple). Carluccio scored five times, drove in four runs and stole two bases. In game two of a doubleheader against McDaniel, he was 3-of-4 at the plate, had four RBI and scored three runs.
Carluccio entered Monday's game against Muhlenberg College leading the team in runs scored (26) and doubles (11) and become the program's new leader in career hits (166) and runs (128) with his weekend results.
Henrick was the winning pitcher in two of the three Ford victories. He threw 10.1 innings of scoreless ball, while fanning seven batters. In the nightcap against McDaniel Sunday afternoon, he tossed eight shutout innings and struck out four. He earned the other win after working 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in an 11-6 win at Muhlenberg.
Henrick is 5-1 with a 1.82 earned run average this season. He has struck out 29 batters in 34.2 innings.
