Cross country teams each ranked in top 15 in latest polls

NEW ORLEANS - Haverford College is one of just five Division III institutions across the country that can claim two top-15 nationally-ranked cross country programs as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the latest D-III polls.

The men's team, ranked second in the USTFCCCA Mideast Region, sits 10th nationally after finishing 30th in the Gold Race of the 2013 Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.

Jumping 12 spots, the women's squad resides in 13th this week after finishing first among D-III teams, and third overall, in the Brown race at Paul Short. The women also rank second in the Mideast Region as Centennial Conference programs inhabit each of the top three spots with Johns Hopkins University and Dickinson College in first and third, respectively.

MIT, Williams College, NYU and SUNY Geneseo are the other institutions that have both squads featured prominently in the national rankings.

The Fords return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as both teams compete at the Princeton (University) Invitational.
