HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College cross country teams will look to add to the proud tradition of their respective programs in the upcoming fall season as the two squads announced their 2013 schedules on Monday.
Haverford was one of just six institutions in all of NCAA Division III that could lay claim to top 15 national finishes by both their women’s and men’s programs in 2012.
The women’s team, second at the Mideast Regional and 13th nationally last season, hosts the Haverford Opener on Aug. 30 before both squads compete at home on Sept. 7 for the Alumnae/Alumni Open Races.
September competition draws to a close with the Main Line Invitational (Sept. 26) at Alumni Course.
As the calendar turns to October the Fords will test themselves against the best competition around as they compete in the Lehigh Paul Short Run (Oct. 5), Princeton Invitational (Oct. 19) and Haverford Invitational (Oct. 25). The men swept the Centennial Conference and Mideast Region titles last season before racing to a second-place tie at the D-III national championship meet.
The championship spotlight shines brightly in November beginning with the Centennial championship meet hosted by McDaniel College on Nov. 2. Two weeks later, on Nov. 16, the Fords will travel back to Lehigh University to compete in the Mideast Regional with an eye toward qualifying for the 2013 national meet. This year’s national championship races, hosted by Hanover College in Hanover, Ind., will take place on Nov. 23.
